DFW Haunted Houses for 2026, Sorted by Scare Level

North Texas has a haunted house for every nerve level, from a ghost-story walk through downtown Dallas to a record-setting maze inside an old Fort Worth meatpacking plant. Most run select nights from late September into November, and a couple stay open until Nov. 13.
We sorted this list from mild to intense so you can match the haunt to who's coming. Prices run from free to about $70 a person.
Mild: good for younger kids
Spooky, not scary. These work for kids who like costumes more than screams.
Mary's Not So Scary Trick-or-Treat

The Parker House turns off the jump scares, animatronics and gore for two nights and runs a gentle trick-or-treat walk instead. While you wait for your group, there's face painting, balloon animals and cotton candy in the courtyard. Official site
Eerie Irving

Irving Parks and Recreation's fall festival, with carnival rides, inflatables, face painting and character meet-and-greets. The open-air haunted walk-through is creepy enough to feel real but mild enough for most kids.
Deadly Dallas Ghost Tours

Medium: story-driven haunts for tweens and up
Real haunted houses with actors in the dark, but with ways to dial it down.
Moxley Manor

Fully indoors, and the actors never touch you. That makes it a solid first "real" haunted house for older kids in the Mid-Cities. Official site

Denton's big haunt is built around a funeral-home backstory. Besides the house, there's Outbreak, a hayride where you shoot at zombies as you roll around the property. Official site
Dark Hour Haunted House

Movie-quality sets inside Coven Manor, a house full of witches. Regular nights are for teens and adults. On Chicken Nights the actors and animatronics sit out and the lights stay on, so younger kids can walk the sets. Official site

J&F House of Terror

The maze is torn down and rebuilt every year, so it's never the same twice. Expect a lot of jump scares. They sell light-up necklaces you can hold up to tell the monsters to back off, and there are two Black Out Nights where you only get a glow stick. Official site

Cutting Edge Haunted House

Set in a century-old meatpacking plant in Hell's Half Acre and over 200,000 square feet, Cutting Edge holds a Guinness World Record and is one of the most awarded haunts in the country. Plan on a long walk and a long line on Saturdays. Official site

A Fort Worth tradition with several themed attractions, escape rooms and midway games, so the group can hang out between scares. Official site
Before you go
- Buy tickets online. Friday and Saturday nights in late October sell out, and online prices are often lower than at the door. Junkyard is the exception: cash at the door only.
- Go early in the season. Late September and weeknights have shorter lines and often cheaper tickets.
- Trust the age guidance. A haunt listed for teens really is for teens. If you aren't sure, start with a mild one or a Chicken Night.
- Check the night before. Most of these are only open select dates, and hours change.
